From Katy B to jungle high jinks, Hartpury students make memories that will last a lifetime at Summer Ball!

From Katy B to jungle high jinks, Hartpury students make memories that will last a lifetime at Summer Ball!

Around 1700 students partied the night away dancing to Katy B and enjoying the thrills and spills of fairground rides surrounded by giant inflatable animals at Hartpury’s Summer Ball!

Popular local band, the Chip Shop Boys, got the party started with an excellent set, including an entertaining re-work of some songs from Disney’s Frozen, and main act Katy B took to the stage at 1am with her dancers. The mix of college and university students packed the dancefloor for tracks including ‘Lights On’, ‘5am’ and ‘Crying for no reason’.

A jungle safari theme complete with street and circus performers in full costume gave the evening a festival feel, along with the giant animals, which included elephants and gorillas with inflatable bananas! The students also enjoyed dodgems, waltzers and other most hair-raising fairground rides.

Sarah Gunning, manager of Hartpury’s Legends Bar, who organised the Summer Ball, said: “It was, as always, an incredible night. We have a pretty packed social calendar here, from lives acts and DJs to theme nights and quizzes but the Summer Ball is something special.

“Katy B and the Chip Shop Boys absolutely rocked the marquee, along with our resident DJs, and I know the students who came will take away memories that will last a lifetime, especially those that we’ll be saying goodbye to this year.

“The safari theme just added to the fun and the rides were busy right through the night. It was great to see so many of the students line up for the famous ‘Survivors Breakfast’ photo at 5am!”
