Student Sport round-up

While the Hartpury College first team have stolen the limelight this week by claiming their sixth AASE League title with a thumping 50-0 victory over Filton College at Allianz Park, a host of other Hartpury teams have also produced some excellent performances recently.


On Friday, March 13th, the Under-19s firsts football team claimed an impressive 11-0 win at Bridgend College firsts in the ECFA Premier League and then defeated Strachan Football Foundation firsts at home 2-0 on Monday 16th to clinch the league title. You can read the full match report here.

The College netballers carried on their season-long unbeaten run all the way to the final of the National Schools competition last weekend, but unfortunately fell at the final hurdle to Greenhead College. You can read the full tournament report here.


The junior netballers bounced back with a 41-13 win over Dudley College firsts in the AoC Superleague on Wednesday.


There was rugby cup success for Hartpury’s university third team in the Men’s Conference Cup on Wednesday as they defeated local rivals University of Gloucestershire firsts in an extra-time thriller. You can read the full match report here.


The BUCS seconds beat Queen Mary firsts away in the BUCS Premier South B League 66-7 and will contest their cup final on Wednesday (25th).


The Under-18s thirds won 31-10 at home to Newcastle-under-Lyme firsts in the AoC League, while on the recreational sport front, the Acorns won 52-0 at Worthing seconds in the same league.


In football, the Under-19s seconds won 6-0 at Dudley College firsts in the ECFA Premier League Cat 2, while the fourth team have won 2-1 at Cirencester seconds and 2-1 at home to Warwickshire College Henley firsts in the ECFA WM Cat 2C League.

Sports Round-up 02.12.16

There were some mixed fortunes this week, with a shock result for Hartpury’s top rugby players, as well as some commendable performances including a massive victory for the women’s rugby stars and good efforts from two non-academy sporting teams on their first major outing of the season.

Team player Tass is in eleven heaven as Hartpury coach is named Sports Champion

Hartpury’s junior football manager Paul Tassell was named 2016’s Sports Champion at the Believe in Gloucester Awards last night after more than a decade of continued success at the college.

Hartpury’s kayak king Sandy ready to make hay on the wild water after dad’s unusual tribute!

Hartpury student Sandy Fotheringham will be hoping to put in a statuesque performance for his dad at next year’s Wild Water Canoe World Championships after the proud father built a 15-foot hay bale replica of him so he can continue making waves in his sport!
