Golfers putt on a show for Children in Need

Hartpury’s golf department got into the swing of things for Children in Need as they put on a range of activities at the college on Tuesday.

Staff and students from across the college visited the driving range as they took part in various challenges led by Hartpury’s BTEC golf programme students and lecturers, which included longest drive, longest putt and longest pitch and putt, as they raised over £400 for the charity.

They were also able to take advantage of the golfers’ expertise with lessons available, in exchange for charitable donations, as the golf students found themselves particularly busy passing on their tips and guidance to staff and students.

Hartpury Golf lecturer, Paul Johnson, also collected a sizeable donation from staff throughout the week as part of his own ‘golf square’ event, which involved Paul hitting an 80-yard shot into a zone full of squares.

Paul said: “It’s great that we were able to run these challenges and events throughout the day and also to see the amount of donations we received from everybody who took part.”
