Physical Education and School Sports students no longer need Sat Navs!

Physical Education and School Sports students no longer need Sat Navs!

Physical Education and School Sports students from Hartpury University Centre have recently completed their Silver National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS).

Students that have gained this qualification will be equipped to lead low level navigation to schools - a skill they will be offering to Hartpury’s partnership schools such as The Raikes Centre when they come to Hartpury for their PE lessons in the New Year.

The students completing the award achieved this through Hartpury’s continued relationship with Tim Treloar. Previously a Hartpury Outdoor Adventure lecturer, Tim now runs his own company, TTAdventures, who are survival and outdoor specialists for a range of projects. Tim also works closely with Bear Grylls on ITV shows ‘Survival School’ and ‘Mission Survive’.

Physical Education and School Sport degree lecturer, Gemma Sharples, said: “This qualification means the students are now qualified to lead navigation activities and adds another string to their bow for when they have completed their degree.

“Broadening the national curriculum areas that Hartpury students can go on to teach, this qualification is an excellent addition to their skill set and professional profile they can take forward in their careers.”
