Radio 4 were on hand at Hartpury this week to find out more about students who are swapping the inner city for a life on the land as they pursue a career in farming.
Three students from non-traditional farming backgrounds - Austen Penfold, 18, Ella Holmes, 16, and Rebecca Hales, 18, - spoke to the presenters about where their interests in farming came from and what made them choose to get into farming in the first place.
Tutor Felicity Coates and Hartpury’s Director of Agriculture Janatha Stout also covered what subjects students at the college can cover from farm mechanisation to game keeping as well as what graduates employment prospects and rates of pay are like.
