If you’re looking to combine a passion for golf with an outstanding academic provision, then Hartpury College is the perfect setting for you because we’ve developed the perfect all-round package to enable you to play and gain a highly recognised qualification at the same time.
While we offer numerous outstanding academic courses, the most popular one for our golfers is the Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence in Golf), where all the modules are tailored to golf. This course provides you with the opportunity to improve your own golfing skills and performance while gaining knowledge and an understanding of the world of elite golfers. The principles of coaching, business, psychology, nutrition and injuries are just some of the golf-related subject areas that will be explored during your time here.
Once enrolled on an academic course and if you want to fulfil your golfing potential, you will have the opportunity to trial for our Elite and Elite Development Squads, which are designed to take your game to the next level. As part of an Elite squad, your development will be supported by having access to professional services including psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy and strength & conditioning. Details on the benefits and costs for those enrolling in September 2017 will be confirmed in early 2017.
As winners of the British Schools and Colleges Tour National Championship, British Colleges Sport National Championship and the Intercollegiate Tour National Championship, as well as numerous individual national champions, Hartpury golf has a proven track record for developing elite players and challenging at the top level.
All students on our golf course also benefit from first-class coaching from three full-time PGA professionals and all get the rare opportunity every month to qualify for a full day’s coaching at Cumberwell Park Golf Club with Head Professional and England Golf Coach, John Jacobs. Students receive an individual improvement plan during the year from John, which enables them to focus on key areas for them to improve efficiently.
In addition, all our golf students get the fantastic opportunity to spend a week in Spain during February on our Study Tour, which enables them to experience a week of intensive practice and training normally associated with county and national squads.
Most of our students go on to study at university and many have also taken up scholarships with top American universities. Many students have gone on to become successful amateur internationals and PGA Professionals and some have also gone on to successfully work in the golf industry at recognised golfing establishments such as The Celtic Manor Resort.
