Paul Tassell - Junior Football Manager

Paul is another coach who knows Hartpury Football inside out after also spending a very successful time playing and studying at Hartpury College. He was part of the back to back British University Championship winning sides in 2007 & 2008.

He is a UEFA A License holder and is an FA Coach Educator with extensive coaching and teaching experience. Paul also holds the FA Youth Award qualification and now oversees the successful junior football programme at Hartpury.

Prior to joining Hartpury, he enjoyed a distinguished playing career as a goalkeeper, gaining England Schoolboy caps in 1996/1997 before going on to play at youth and reserve team level for Oxford United FC, Wycombe Wanderers FC, Reading FC and Forest Green Rovers FC. He has continued to play semi-professionally locally with Bishops Cleeve FC, Cinderford Town FC and Witney United FC.

Paul has also been instrumental in the development of Futsal at Hartpury using it as a successful development tool and coaching the BUCS Senior team to the National University Futsal Championship in 2009 and also guiding FC Hartpury to 2nd place in the FA Futsal National League.

Together with his coaching abilities, Paul is also an accomplished futsal player with international experience. He has also represented Great Britain as a player and coach at the Futsal World Championships in 2008 and 2010.

Paul has significant goalkeeping experience and oversees coaching to both the senior and junior goalkeepers to ensure they receive specific training regularly in their programmes.

Holding a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science, he also boasts a PGCE qualification and used to lecture on the Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport (Performance and Excellence in Football) course at Hartpury as well as holding down tutor responsibilities for six years before taking up his current position. This has given him a great insight in to mentoring and working with this age group to help these players develop.
