During Alan’s tenure, the Bristol school enjoyed unprecedented success. It won seven Daily Mail National Schools Cups, numerous other national and international titles and produced 83 schoolboy internationals and 11 full internationals, including the likes of Lee Mears, Olly Barkley and Gareth Delve, establishing itself as one of the leading schoolboy rugby institutions in the world.
In Alan’s three seasons at Hartpury so far, he has coached the U18 1st XV to three consecutive RFU AASE League titles, with his side being named Rugby World Magazine and Rugby Times Schools Team of the Year for the 2010-11 season.
Alan’s coaching career has also seen him work as both Technical Director and Academy Manager at Bath Rugby, in addition to a three-year spell in charge of National Division Two South side Dings Crusaders, whom he led to their highest ever finish in that league.
Initially appointed Hartpury’s Junior Rugby Academy Director, Alan assumed an overall Director of Rugby position in 2011 and he now oversees the development of both senior and U18 rugby, coaching across the board.
