Welcome Day

All students new to Higher Education at Hartpury College are invited to arrive on the 9th September. This is compulsory for Undergraduate students.  During the day, you will meet existing students who will help you familiarize yourselves with the campus and Higher Education.  Also on hand will be a number of Academic Staff who will give you details of the following weeks Academic activities.  Students should arrive at the times in the document below and follow the instructions included.

Academic Induction

All students will have a busy programme of Activities during the week.  This includes meeting your Programme Leader, other students on your course, completing module choices and getting your timetable for the following weeks teaching.  You will get a full timetable of actives when you arrive on Welcome Day. 

Undergraduate: If you are unsure, then please make sure you are at the following places on Monday 10th September:

  • Equine Students:  NLT1 at 10am
  • Sport Students: NLT1 at 9am
  • Sport Business Management students: NLT 4 at 9am
  • Animal and Land Students (including Vet Nursing): A6 (Main House) at 9am

Postgraduate: All new postgraduate students will need to attend College on Thursday 13th Sept for enrolment. Please arrive in reception at Hartpury House at 9.45am where you will be directed to your welcome meeting.

On Friday we have arranged a visit to the UWE campus at Frenchay. This is highly recommended for MA Sports Management students, as you will work closely with the Bristol Business School throughout your course. Students from other postgraduate programmes are very welcome to attend, as this visit will give you a chance to broaden your horizons in terms of what studying at UWE Hartpury has to offer.

Freshers Week: From Sunday evening there is a week of activities planned for students to enjoy.  These include live bands, traffic light party, Gloucester pub crawl and a beach party amongst others! Further details in Freshers Hartbeat 3!

International students, who arrive before Welcome Day, please ensure you come down to the Sports Academy at your allotted slot to pick up vital information about Academic Induction.

It is essential that all returning students attend induction days.  You will gain all the information you need to make the most of the next academic year.  This includes programme meetings, updating you with any changes, confirmation of module choices, receipt of your timetable and most importantly an individual tutorial to go through your progress. You will get a personalized timetable at the beginning of the day in the first meeting, but plan to be there between 9 – 5pm. We have made a real effort to ensure it is all complete in one day, allowing you start the next week and lectures fully informed and prepared.  Please meet at the following:

* If you are topping up internally onto a programme with the same name as your Foundation degree programme, you will be required to attend the compulsory session in A6 on Thursday 13th September from 1pm, as outlined under the returning students tab.
