Level 2 Award in Healthier Food & Special Diets

An accredited nutrition qualification, relevant to all employees who prepare and serve food. Consumers have become increasingly aware of the effects of a poor diet and businesses are keen to understand the links between diet and health to meet changing customer demands. This course is especially applicable to those involved in the selection of ingredients, recipes and menus; such as school caterers, hotel/restaurant staff and care home workers. Students taking relevant food and health subjects would also benefit.

Areas of Study:

The relationship between nutrition, diet and health
The nutritional requirements of different population groups
Current policy, legislation and voluntary guidelines
The effects of food processing on nutrient content
Nutrition labelling



Students will participate in class exercises and then answer a multiple choice test paper at the end of the course. (Occasional weekend and evening classes may be available -please contact short courses)

Students are required to bring a notepad and pen.
