Giving you the Hartpury Advantage
The Innovation Careers and Enterprise Centre helps our students to take control of their career development right from their first day at Hartpury.
This experienced team provides professional, work and skills-based courses, careers advice and guidance, employability and enterprise opportunities as well as enrichment activities and placement support.
The ‘Hartpury Advantage’ is about helping you to become the best you can be, not only within your academic study but by supporting you to develop experiences and skills that will ensure you stand out when entering the workplace.
The Hartpury staff team are here to encourage and advise you as you build your ‘Hartpury Advantage’ throughout your time with us.
We have excellent partnerships and networks with the industries we serve and academic staff who are also practitioners in their field of expertise.
The campus itself hosts professional and commercial activity in all of our key sectors, giving students valuable opportunities to get involved and see industry working first hand.
Careers advice and support
The Innovation Careers and Enterprise offer information, advice and guidance and workshops to support students with all aspects of their career goals.
Whether you want to enhance your employability skills, talk through career options, sharpen up your CV, write a covering letter or practice your interview skills, we can help.
Opportunities are sometimes available for part-time jobs on-site too and for volunteering at Hartpury or with charities and other organisations, helping students to build skills and enhance their employability. These are advertised through the Innovation, Careers and Enterprise centre and the Students’ Union.
Students can book a 1:1 appointment either by popping into the Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre, located in the Student Zone or via email@example.com or on 01452 7602656.
Real world and work experience
Every Hartpury University Centre student is assigned a Placement Tutor to support and guide them and who acts as a central contact throughout their work placement.
The Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre holds a database of providers and regularly advertises opportunities for students to gain experience in the workplace either as a placement, volunteering or as paid work. Students can also come and meet the Centre’s Placement Coordinator at any time.
Work placements vary in length from two weeks to a whole year out on placement. Students complete their placements at a variety of local, national and international places. We have on-site opportunities for Hartpury Students to work at the Equine Therapy Centre, the Equine Centre and with the Sports Academies. In the past, students have worked in Summer Camps in the USA and on conservation projects in the Seychelles.
