Overview
If you have a strong interest and sport and want to gain a sound knowledge and understanding of the sports and fitness industries, then this course is perfect for you.
The course gives students the chance to focus on a specialist sport, either golf, rugby or football, or for those with a general sporting interest, the chance to take part in in practical sessions covering a wide variety of sports. A work placement during your first and second years will allow you to gain first-hand experience of the industry as well as invaluable networking opportunities and contacts.
Practical sessions form an important aspect of the course, enabling you to develop skills that are needed to work in leisure centres, activity centres, sports retail outlets and gyms. Some of the subjects you will study include anatomy and physiology for sport, nutrition for sports performance, exercise and fitness instruction, planning and leading sports activities and practical sport.
There is also the opportunity to take part in team matches held on a Wednesday, subject to a successful trial.
