Level 3 Extended Diploma Horse Management (Equitation)

Overview

This course gives you the opportunity to gain detailed academic knowledge and an in-depth understanding of horse management and equitation through theory-based and practical sessions.

You will be involved in the daily care of the horses through yard duties, including weekends which will develop the practical skills necessary to gain employment within the equine industry. You will also have the opportunity to assist in the running of College equine competitions.  It is therefore a compulsory for students to live in Hartpury accommodation during their studies. 

Hartpury’s outstanding equine facilities include:

  • Four indoor arenas, including our multi-million pound Indoor Championship Arena complex with seating for 600
  • Three outdoor arenas, including a world class championship arena
  • Stabling for 280 horses
  • Equine Veterinary and Therapy Centre, including aquafit and high speed treadmills, solarium and other therapy systems
  • Cross-country courses up to FEI***

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at  grade C (or 4 where numerical grades are being used) or above, which must include English Language and Mathematics.

You must be able to walk, trot and canter in a safe and controlled manner. You must be riding at BHS Stage 1 standard. This will be assessed during your interview.

    If you are not able to live on campus or would prefer to go home every evening, there are different transport options available, from minibuses to coaches to public bus companies. Student transport is based on three zones and charging bands.
