If you are interested in developing your own rugby skills and performance, alongside the study of coaching and training, then this Extended Diploma is for you.
You will gain a valuable insight into coaching and training techniques for a range of rugby populations, from young children to elite professional players. You will also be given the tools needed to examine your own play and team play, ensuring you improve and develop as a player throughout your time with us. A work placement during your first and second years will allow you to gain first-hand experience of the industry as well as invaluable networking opportunities and contacts.
Tactical skills, physiology, nutrition, coaching and sports performance are just some of the rugby-related subject areas that will be explored. This allows all prospective professional rugby players the foundation to pursue a career in a variety of domains such as within the coaching, teaching and personal training sector.
You’ll also have the chance to coach and referee at local venues throughout the county thanks to close links with TagV. Teambuilding trips to Malvern Hills and Croft Farm are complimented by other opportunities including a trip to Kingsholm, Gloucester Rugby’s ground and the Body Power Expo at the NEC, Birmingham.
Former Hartpury College rugby student, Paul Goulding, certainly has a story to tell - from Hartpury to living on the beach in San Diego and being the Performance Analyst for the USA Eagles international rugby team. We caught up with Paul when the Eagles were at Hartpury during the Rugby World Cup 2015 for him to share the story of his journey since he left Hartpury.
