Overview
This course is ideal for you if you want to increase your knowledge and practical skills across machinery operation, workshop skills and crop production. This course is a good balance between agriculture and engineering.
What you will study
The first year units have a strong agricultural content which includes one livestock and crops production unit.
You'll also have opportunities to gain skills and experience in our Home Farm workshop facilities and from operating some of the latest tractors and range of harvesting and cultivation equipment.
Industry experience
The college maintains strong industry links enhancing your experience through trips, visits and guest speakers.
Career and education opportunities
Through industry links and a period of work placement 99% of students make a positive progression into employment or higher education.
On completion, you should have a thorough understanding of your subject and be ready to progress onto the final year of the Extended Diploma in Farm Mechanisation or into employment.
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include Mathematics and English Language.
Whether you’re studying Agriculture, Engineering, Farm Mechanisation or Gamekeeping, our 500-hectare farm estate will be your classroom.
You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in every aspect of farming and estate operation; whether it’s milking in the dairy unit, maintaining farm machinery or active participation in routine farm and gamekeeping duties.
Once we receive your application, we will write and invite you to attend an interview and written assessment with a member of staff on your chosen course. The interview is an opportunity to discuss the course content, ask any questions you may have and go on a tour of the campus.
