Due to the impact of COVID-19 on assessments and practical exams, we have moved your Graduation to 6 November, This decision gives us vital time to support all completing students, that may not otherwise have the opportunity to join us to celebrate. Providing us with essential time to support students who require face to face assessments in September, as well as those who may need to use resit periods. This is an unprecedented situation and we'll continue to monitor the government’s guidelines closely. We recommend you don't make any travel bookings, until you receive an invite to register for your ceremony in September.
Your graduation ceremony is one of the high-points in your university career. It's an opportunity to gather with family and friends to celebrate your award and everything you've achieved. It’s a chance to catch up with friends and say goodbye to the staff who have helped you along the way.
You'll make memories that will last a lifetime - the spectacular setting of Gloucester Cathedral offers a perfect backdrop for picture opportunities throughout the day.
You can find videos of the 2019 award ceremonies here.
- Invitations to register for your ceremony will be emailed, therefore it is important you ensure your contact details are kept up to date on my.hartpury.ac.uk
- Timings of the ceremony will be updated in due course. Please note this varies each year for subject area.
- View our Graduation policy here for further details on eligibility and terms and conditions.
- Award ceremonies at Gloucester Cathedral on 6 November are for Hartpury University graduands only. UWE Hartpury students please see UWE graduation page for more information.
We recommend arriving approximately two hours before your ceremony begins. Further information on timings will be given once booking opens. Upon arrival, graduands will need to register their arrival at the desks first. This is the most important step of the day, as your name will not be read out if you do not register.
Guest tickets are limited to two per graduand. Guest seats will be allocated and we recommend locating your seat upon arrival. Guests must have tickets and be seated at least 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Due to Health and Safety restrictions we cannot allow standing during the ceremony.
Award ceremonies are lengthy formal occasions, therefore we recommend finding alternative childcare arrangements where possible. Children aged four and over will need a guest seat. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you are bringing a child in a pushchair, it is important you include this information when completing your online booking, to ensure suitable seating is allocated.
For additional guests without tickets, a marquee with limited seating will be available outside the cathedral live streaming the ceremony. Please note these guests will not be able to access the cathedral or drinks reception after the ceremony.
You will be able to order this when you register through the online portal. You must wear robes hired or purchased through Marston Robing. You will be able to pick these up and drop them off on the day from the cathedral. Given the formal nature of the event, we recommend that you wear smart clothing beneath your robe.
Gloucester Cathedral is fully accessible and we will be happy to assist with seating arrangements. Please ensure you provide full details of any access requirements for guests when completing your online booking.
As a Graduate, if you have any access requirements, please contact email@example.com
You can find further information on access to Gloucester Cathedral on their website.
For those unable to attend, the ceremonies will be live streamed. This can be watched from a personal device with internet access.
Please note that Gloucester Cathedral is an old building with thick walls. Please bear with us if there are any technical issues.
The Cathedral is located at the heart of the city centre, and no car parking is available at the venue. As such, we advise planning parking in advance. Further information on finding Gloucester Cathedral and parking can be found on their website.
Please note the graduation team will not discuss any details relating to your student record or your award ceremony with a third party, including parents.
If your query is regarding robes or photography, please contact Marston Robing.
