Our sports halls are an ideal location for many practical sports lessons. Our new sports hall measures 1,500 square metres, it includes integrated cameras and audio, a wooden-sprung floor, as well as space and markings for a number of different sports courts including:
We also have an additional sports hall on-campus, suitable for basketball and other sports.
Outside our students are spoilt for choice with the number of sports pitches on our 360-hectre campus. There are eight grass pitches – four football and four rugby – which provide students with professional-quality playing surfaces. The main football and rugby pitches are floodlit with dugouts.
Two 3G all-weather surfaces give an all-year-round option for training and matches. One is tested to IRB regulations and contains rugby posts and full pitch markings. The other is fully certified by the Football Association and contains full-size and six-a-side goals, as well as full football and rugby pitch markings.
Our on-site undercover driving range, including a GASP video analysis system, gives aspiring golfers all-weather practice all year round and the chance to review their technique, driving continual improvement.
We also have a nine-hole short game practice area which is joined by a USGA specification putting green and an all-weather Jack Nicklaus designed putting green. We also boast a further short game facility for bunker practice and improvement on and around the greens.
Students also access local courses and professionals on a regular basis, including the facilities at key partner, Tewkesbury Park Golf Club.
A combined-event shooting range is supported by specialist facilities for riding - in our multi-million pound equine centre – as well as outdoor running and indoor fencing facilities. Acting as a feeder to the National Training Centre in Bath, we also offer pentathletes swimming facilities in nearby Gloucester at GL1 sports centre.
You can look forward to watching top-class rugby on campus at the Gillman’s Ground – our main, floodlit rugby pitch.
Gillman's Ground is home to our very own Hartpury University RFC – the only student-led club in the Championship. Our British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and AASE College title-winning winning teams also play their home games here.
The stadium includes a 450-capacity stand and the Hartpury Clubhouse, where spectators can watch matches inside thanks to full-length windows. The clubhouse also has a bar, TV and seating, if it’s too wet or chilly outside!
