Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre

Our Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre (ICE) helps our students from their first day at Hartpury.

Our experienced and qualified Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre (ICE) team provides professional, work and skills based workshops, careers advice and guidance. The team can also provide employability and enterprise support as well as offering help with finding placements.

Whether you want to enhance your employability skills, talk through career options, sharpen up your CV, write a covering letter or practice your interview skills, we can help.

We design complementary opportunities for our students through social, volunteering and optional learning activities that support them in making a real impact within their community and gaining experience. These real experiences support our graduates to recognise how they can make a positive contribution to society, now and in the future.

Student experience

Throughout our proud history, Hartpury has encouraged its students to actively gain employability skills and has held graduate attributes at its heart.

Our students are highly employable; 97% of our graduates are in employment, further study or other purposeful activity within 15 months (Graduate Outcomes, 2023). They recognise the value in what they do and are able to make positive contributions to society. Our experienced and qualified Careers Consultants support students throughout their studies with group and 1:1 career, education information, advice and guidance.

These sessions equip students with the abilities and knowledge to map their future, building up their career and life credentials and evidencing them, to ensure they are day-one-ready for their dream career.

ICE also specialises in supporting students to develop entrepreneurial skills, supporting them to consider an alternative career path, such as running their own business.

Hartpury offers 1:1 business advisor consultations in our dedicated business centre, located in ICE. Here students take part in enterprise activities, projects, workshops and seminars, in addition to meeting professionals who'll encourage them to explore their ideas.

We hold a database of 3,000 local and national businesses offering work placement opportunities. Voluntary charity and part-time on-site working opportunities are sometimes available too. Every Hartpury University student is assigned a Placement Tutor, who acts as a central contact throughout any work placements. Students can also meet with our placements team at any time.

“The support I received from Hartpury is one of the main reasons the company is up and running today. I had so much support from Simon Spooner and all the ICE team, special thanks to Lucy Scannell and Vicki Crossland. I will always be grateful for the help and funding I received from Hartpury.”
