Hartpury Equine Academy members make European 2* Eventing Team training squad

Two Hartpury University Centre degree students have been selected for the long list to be placed on the training squad for the British CIC2* European Championship Team.

Anna Horton, who studies BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching, has been selected with Classic Affair and Victoria Leabeater, studying BSc (Hons) Equestrian Sport Science, aboard Dolces E were selected for the training squad after completing two days of horse and rider assessment in February.

The biennial CIC2* Championships give Europe’s best amateur riders the chance to compete in a unique eventing format and gives championship experience to riders making their way up the ranks. This year the team will be heading off to Tongeren in Belgium for the competition.  

Rather than the usual four making up a team there are six places up for grabs when the final team is confirmed. The British Team have had great success with team and individual podium placings at the last four events.

Anna said: “It’s a really exciting opportunity to gain team experience and receive training from top class coaches.”
