The Equine Therapy Centre team prides itself on offering a range of rehabilitation services as well as routine veterinary care. 

Hartpury’s own staff are supported by Three Counties Equine Hospital LLP and a range of other professionals.

Dr Kathryn Nankervis

Principal Lecturer (Equine Therapy)

The Equine Therapy Centre is overseen by Dr Kathryn Nankervis B.Sc. M.Sc. CVPM. Kathryn studied Physiological Sciences at Newcastle University and Equine Science at Aberystwyth University.

Kerry-Anne Bourne

Manager

Kerry-Anne was appointed Manager in May 2016. Before this she was the assistant manager in all areas. She is in charge of running our yard of in-patient horses and out patient horses who come on a regualar basis.

Jess Lambourn

Assistant Manager with Horses

Jess joined the team in May 2016, having worked with us while completing her MRes in Equestrian Performance. Her research investigated the effect of uphill exercise on back kinematics.

Izabella Motyl

Rider Performance Assistant Manager

Performance Izabella started by being a volunteer alongside her Fdsc in Equine Performance in 2012 she then became a casual member of staff which led her onto becoming full time in 2016 after finishing a master degree in Equestrian Performance. Izabella is now assisting with the Rider Performance centre and the Therapy Yard.

Hannah Barlow

Farrier

Jim is a mobile farrier covering Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, regularly attending the Equine Therapy Centre to shoe horses residing with us for the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

Kelvin Lymer DipWCF

Farrier

Kelvin runs a large farriery practice called Sandpitt Forge, covering Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire, specialising in remedial shoeing and trimming.

Kelvin has been shoeing for over 30 years, and has been working with the Equine Therapy Centre since its opening in 1999.  He was one of only three elite farriers selected to travel to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and has been the Endurance GB team farrier since 1992.

Liz Launder

Osteopath

Liz has been involved in the investigation and treatment of injury in horses for approaching 30 years and treats many of the Equine Therapy Centre’s in- and out-patients on a referral basis.

Liz is able to use manipulation and mobilisation techniques they are often carried out with the horse under  standing sedation.

Horses that Liz asses can be seen at home, the Equine Therapy Centre or at Three counties equine hospital. Following a detailed evaluation, this may also include the horse being ridden. After this a management programme will be developed which can either be provided on an in or out patient basis. This can be at Three counties or Hartpury Equine Therapy centre.

Sarah Price

Veterinary Physiotherapist

Sarah Price (MSc BSC hons MCSP ACPAT Cat A) is a Chartered Physiotherapist who has specialised as a Veterinary Physiotherapist since completing her MSc at the Royal Veterinary College in 2004. She now owns and runs one of the busiest private practices in the region (www.sarahpricephysio.com).

She specialises in the rehabilitation of horse and rider following injury and maximising equine and rider performance and biomechanics throughout the competition season.

On discharge from the Therapy Centre, Sarah or one of her team can also continue your treatment at home to support you and your horse back to a full recovery.

John Campbell BVMS MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Originally from Northern Ireland, John qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1999 and is a Partner in the Three Counties Equine Hospital.

John enjoys all aspects of working in a busy equine hospital and the varied case load which that presents, however he has a particular interest in stud and neonatal medicine

David Blakey BVetMed MRCVS

Helen Mancey BVetMed, MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Helen graduated from the RVC, London in 2010. She spent three years in mixed practice in South Wales before joining the Three Counties Equine Hospital in October 2013 as part of the House Surgeon team before moving into the Ambulatory side in 2016. Her areas of interest are anaesthesia, medicine and lameness, and she is hoping to start her certificate soon.

Becky Wall BVMS CertAVP (DI) MRCVS

Partner

Becky qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2005 and spent 18 months in mixed practice in Cornwall prior to travelling to Australia where she completed a 2 year internship at Scone Veterinary Hospital. It was here she gained vast experience in neonatal medicine, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging.

Becky joined Three Counties Equine Hospital in 2009.
