OCT Review

Acorns October Review

And we can all now breathe after a congested October has come to end with the Acorns coming off the back of eight games last month.

The Acorns may have a seen a slow start to the month, but they sure picked it up ending October five games unbeaten and with three wins in a row.

The highlight of the month might possibly be a resounding 4-1 victory over Swindon Supermarine which ended our short term at the KMM Energy Stadium.

With so much to unwrap, let’s get right into it.

LEAVING IT LATE

The Acorns opened the month with a home clash against Barnstaple Town and left it late to seal all three points in a tightly contested affair.

Louis Manning’s first half penalty almost saw the Acorns only receiving a point, until Billy Osborn was alert to a missed placed back pass to round the goalkeeper and roll home for a 2-1 victory.

TOUGH DEFEATS ON THE ROAD

The Acorns followed up that win with two tricky away days at Tiverton Town and Dorchester Town.

A Tuesday night trip to Tiverton ended in disappointment, as the Acorns were defeated 3-1 despite a Kian Davies free kick.

The Acorns looked to bounce back with a trip to Dorchester and did lead the promotion chasers through a Manning lofted effort.

But a second half equaliser and a stoppage time penalty saw Dorchester steal all the points and condemn the Acorns to back-to-back defeats.

FIRST POINTS ON THE ROAD

That was the first two away games of five straight, as the Acorns hit the road towards Sporting Club Inkberrow next.

The Acorns produced an improved performance leading to Nathan Jenkins and Manning securing a 2-0 win and our first three points on the road.

Next up was a trip to Exmouth Town, which saw the Acorns earn a point thanks to a Noah Coates equalising goal during a 1-1 draw.

The Acorns completed their away days stint with an outstanding team display against Westbury United.

Davies buried a first half penalty before Rory Preston netted his first Acorns goal earning the Acorns a 2-0 victory.

RETURNING HOME

After going three games unbeaten, the Acorns faced up with a top of the table chasing Supermarine in our final game at the KMM Energy Stadium.

The weather conditions made it tricky but the Acorns better their opposition in comfortable fashion, dismantling Supermarine 4-1.

Goals from Jenkins, Osborn, Drew Robinson and Cameron Walters helped the Acorns end their stay at the KMM unbeaten.

The Acorns carried that performance into their return to the 4ED Hartpury Stadium, as they confidently got past Shaftesbury AFC 4-0.

An Osborn brace before Jenkins and Morgan Ewing added to the total made sure of a third successive win for the Acorns.

With November in full swing, the Acorns start with a trip to Portland United on Saturday before back-to-back home games against Bishops Cleeve and Falmouth Town.
