As we enter an even busier October schedule, it’s time to review how the Acorns faired during a jam packed September.
After a slow opening month of the season, the Acorns got right into the swing of things playing out seven games across the FA Trophy and the Southern League Div One South.
Let’s now revisit the month and see how the Acorns got on.

PROUDLY BOWING OUT
The Acorns started the month with a goalless draw away to Paulton Rovers before heading south to face ex-National League side Weymouth in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round.
After heading down as underdogs with the Terras undefeated in all competitions, the Acorns twice took the lead thanks to goals from Cameron Walters and Louis Manning.
But Weymouth showed their quality and twice responded with the Acorns eventually forcing the Terras to penalties but unfortunately we bowed out of the Trophy on spot kicks.
CLINICAL WINS
Following back-to-back draws, the Acorns turned up the heat picking up successive wins against Melksham Town and Willand Rovers.
Morgan Ewing, Billy Osborn and Manning were on the scoresheet during a Tuesday night 3-1 win over Melksham.
Ewing was involved in the goals again just a few days later, when he netted a brace during our 3-2 win over Willand, whilst Manning made it three goals in three games.
SLOW ENDING
The Acorns seemed to have picked up form and following their successive wins were held to a 1-1 draw by Worcester Raiders, with Ewing yet again on target.
But it was a disappointing end to the month, as the Acorns suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Bideford AFC before narrowly being beaten 1-0 by Bishops Cleeve, closing out the month.
Osborn got himself in the goals against Bideford, but an own goal was the difference on our Tuesday night trip to Cleeve.
The Acorns will be raring to respond to successive defeats, as we welcome Barnstaple Town to the KMM Energy Stadium on Saturday.
