Hartpury produce electric performance to secure first win of the season against Manor Farm

Hartpury FC picked up their maiden Southern League win defeating Bristol Manor Farm 3-1 at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium on Tuesday night.

Nathan Jenkins, Vanylson Silva and Noah Coates were on target, around a Brandon Bak penalty for Manor Farm, securing the Acorns first ever Southern League Div One South victory.

The Acorns produced an electric start to proceedings with Billy Osborn and Silva seeing close ranged efforts denied by Farm goalkeeper, James Walker, inside the opening three minutes.

That fast start was rewarded on five minutes when Jenkins volleyed into the bottom corner after Silva saw a cross turned shot tipped onto the bar prior.

One became two on 18 minutes when Silva popped up at the back post from corner to poke home a rebounded effort after his initial header was stopped.

It took the visitors 38 minutes to test Ryan Smallwood in the Acorns goal when Bradley Selwood took aim from 18-yards, but it flew straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.

The Acorns continued to threat deep into the first half, but Walker twice denied Silva and Osborn with a smothering save and then a clawing save off the line from a deflected cross.

It was another fast start from the Acorns in the second period as Jenkins saw a bending effort from the edge of the box tipped round the post by Walker on 49 minutes.

Osborn thought he’d finally found the net on 59 minutes rounding Walker and rolling home, but the flag was up to deny him after an exquisite through ball by Jenkins.

Farm got themselves back into the game on 67 minutes when Bak made no mistakes from a spot kick finding the bottom corner.

George Sims almost restored the Acorns two goal advantage on 81 minutes but could only poke a free ball wide from close range.

Renato Prifti tried his luck, after wriggling out of the corner, but could only fire his effort straight at Walker on 88 minutes.

But in the third minute of added time, Coates did regain the Acorns advantage when he headed home from close range following Morgan Ewing’s effort coming back off the bar, securing our first win of the season.

It’s a lengthy break now for the Acorns who are back in action on Monday, August 25th when we host Malvern Town at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium.
