Hartpury secure back-to-back wins with Didcot victory

Two early goals were enough to see Hartpury FC make it four-games unbeaten defeating Didcot Town 2-0 at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium, on Tuesday night.

Billy Osborn’s strike and an own goal saw the Acorns extend their home unbeaten run to eight games in the Southern League Div One South.

It took less than five minutes for the Acorns to get off the mark when Osborn swept home a Nathan Jenkins cross from six yards.

One became two just four minutes later when a Jenkins low cross was again turned home from close range, this time by Didcot captain, Adam Learoyd.

Jenkins tried his luck to get himself on the scoresheet but saw a volleyed effort fly over the bar on 23 minutes.

Tomos Shyamapant saw an effort blocked on 28 minutes after Leon Machisa spayed a wonderful crossfield pass to Louis Manning, in the build-up.

A minute later, Jenkins saw a distanced effort well held by Didcot goalkeeper, Leigh Bedwell, moments before Seth Locke had to keep Didcot out with a strong foot down the other end.

Didcot grew into the half and went close on 40 minutes when Jenson Wright struck a volley just wide, which saw the Acorns 2-0 lead stick into the break.

HALF TIME – HARTPURY FC 2-0 DIDCOT TOWN

Cameron Mills had the opening effort of the half for Didcot, stinging the palms of Locke from 18-yards on 50 minutes.

The Railwaymen enjoyed a spell of possession with Locke needing to produce a one-on-one stop against Owen James on 59 minutes, before the ball struck the post off an Acorns body, moments later.

Osborn saw a clipped effort well held but the Railwaymen goalkeeper on 73 minutes before, Vanylson Silva struck a volley inches past the post two minutes later.

In stoppage time, the Acorns did have the ball in the net after Silva’s strike deflected off Manning into the bottom corner, but Manning was unfortunately in an offside position.

After making it back-to-back wins, the Acorns will hunt down another one when we travel to Shaftesbury AFC on Saturday.
