Hartpury FC suffered their first defeat since the turn of the year against Didcot Town at the Loop Meadow Stadium, on Saturday.
Despite a second half strike from Sol Kent, the Acorns could not avoid a 3-1 defeat in this Southern League Div One South clash.
It was a quiet opening exchange until, with the first effort on goal, Owen James buried a one-on-one effort to give the Railwaymen the lead, on 15 minutes.
The next best chance of the half came for Didcot on 33 minutes when Sam Bailey lashed an effort wide from distance.
The Acorns only chance of the half saw a Louis Manning cross turned just past the post by Didcot defender, Adam Learoyd, on 36 minutes.
But just before half time, Didcot doubled their lead when Tyger-J Hall rolled one into the bottom corner from 12-yards on 41 minutes.
HALF TIME – DIDCOT TOWN 2-0 HARTPURY FC
Nathan Jenkins had the opening opportunity of the half for the Acorns, when he saw a driven effort cleared off the line on 47 minutes.
10 minutes, Didcot had a golden opportunity to kill the game, but JP Nyuysemo could only head is effort straight at Seth Locke from six yards.
Jenkins tried his luck again on 59 minutes, but his curling effort ended up on the wrong side of the post.
A scramble in the Hartpury box occurred on 67 minutes when a Learoyd header came back off the post before being finally gathered by Locke.
Riley McGregor drove from the halfway line on 72 minutes before unleashing a high rising effort, from 18-yards.
George Sims was called into action at the back on 76 minutes, producing a fantastic last ditch tackle on Nyuysemo.
The Acorns finally found a way through on 85 minutes when Kent’s low cross missed everyone and nestled into the bottom corner.
But just three minutes later, substitute James Glover volleyed a third home for the Railwaymen, handing the Acorns their first defeat since January 3rd.
The Acorns will be hoping to get back to winning ways when we travel to Sporting Club Inkberrow on Tuesday night.
