Late heartbreak as Hartpury fall to Bideford defeat.

Hartpury FC fell to a late defeat against Bideford AFC at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium on Good Friday.

The Acorns were hoping to build on last Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Swindon Supermarine and looking to get back to winning ways at the 4ED.

Louis Manning saw a half chance fly over the Bideford bar on seven minutes, bringing up the opening effort of the game.

Vanylson Silva tried a curling effort form 18-yards on 11 minutes, following a brilliant diagonal pass from Seth Locke, but the effort flew straight at Bideford goalkeeper, Shaun Semmens.

Locke was on hand to keep the fixture deadlocked on 19 minutes, when he got down smartly to turn away a Ryan Turner effort from close range.

Manning had the Acorns best effort of the half when his first time strike, from just inside the area, skipped inches past the post on 30 minutes.

HALF TIME – HARTPURY FC 0-0 BIDEFORD AFC

Billy Osborn went extremely close, five minutes into the second half, when his headed effort cannoned back off the post before seeing his follow up blocked back onto the post.

Manning went close again on 56 minutes, when curled an effort agonisingly wide from just inside the area.

Bideford saw a rare glimpse at goal on 68 minutes, but Jack Winsor couldn’t direct his effort on target, from range.

The Robins went close again on 72 minutes when Brad Williams glanced a header just over the bar.

But it was the visitors who would snatch all three points in the 93rd minute, when Archie Reay found the net from over 40-yards, handing the Acorns successive home defeats.

The Acorns don’t have to wait long for a chance to put this result behind them, as we travel to Bishops Cleeve on Monday.
