Match Preview- Exmouth Town (A)

It’s a fourth away game in a row for the Acorns, as we make the trip south to Exmouth Town on Saturday in the Southern League.

The Acorns will be hoping to build on their first away win of the season against Sporting Club Inkberrow, on Tuesday night, with three points potentially seeing the Acorns rise into the play-off positions.

Exmouth will be in search of a much-needed win, which could send them above the Acorns in the table, and will be seeking revenge following their 4-1 defeat to Hartpury in the FA Trophy earlier this season.

Ahead of our trip to the southern coast of Devon, here is everything you need to know about Exmouth.

THE OPPOSITION – EXMOUTH TOWN

STADIUM – Search4Local Stadium

NICKNAME – The Town

FOUNDED – 1933

MANAGER – Kevin Hill

LEAGUE POSITION – 13th

FORM GUIDE – L-L-L-W-L

SEASON SO FAR

Following their defeat in Gloucestershire against the Acorns, Exmouth went on a run of five games unbeaten.

This included wins over Tiverton Town, Shaftesbury AFC, Barnstaple Town and an FA Cup replay victory over Banbury United.

But, ever since that 2-1 win over Barnstaple in just over a month ago, Exmouth have only won one of their last seven games in all competitions and head into Saturday’s fixture off the back of a 3-2 defeat to Portland United.

However, Exmouth have only lost twice at the Search4Local Stadium so far this season, in six games there.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

On the Acorns last trip to Exmouth, we ran out narrow 1-0 winners thanks to a Nathan Jenkins strike during the second half.

Goals from Morgan Ewing, Kian Davies, Louis Manning and Billy Osborn secured our 4-1 victory over Town at the beginning of the season.

But Town’s only win over the Acorns came at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium, in October 2025, when they secured a narrow 2-1 win thanks to an Oliver Knowles free-kick and an own goal.

IN THE DUGOUT – KEVIN HILL

Kevin Hill took over the reins at Exmouth back in 2013 where he initially became a player/coach, as he approached the end of his playing career.

Since then, Hill has helped guide the Town to promotion from the Western League to the Southern League Div One South in 2022, for the first time in the club’s history.

During his time as manager at Step Four, Hill has guided the Town to fifth place finish during the 2025/26 season.

Hill came to Exmouth with a lavished playing career having been a former Football League player with Torquay United.

Hill joined Torquay in 1997, whilst they competed in the old Division Three, and went on to make 417 appearances for the club.

Following a decade at the club, Hill moved onto Dorchester Town before signing for Tiverton Town, where he went on to make 100 appearances

PLAYER TO WATCH- ETHAN SLATER

Ethan Slater was highlighted as a player to watch in our previous encounter with Town, and he remains just that for Saturday’s clash.

Slater is currently the club’s joint top scorer in the league alongside Matthew Wright, who both have three goals in eight league games.

Slater was on target during his sides 3-2 defeat at Portland on Tuesday night.
