The Acorns will be wanting to make it back-to-back wins this week, when we welcome Falmouth Town to the 4ED Hartpury Stadium on Saturday.
It was back to winning ways on Tuesday night, as the Acorns came from 2-0 down to beat Sporting Club Inkberrow 4-2 at Sands Road.
The Acorns will also be hoping to keep up their unbeaten streak at the 4ED, which currently stands at 10 games, a run that dates back to October.
Ahead of tomorrow’s Southern League Div One South clash with the Ambers, here is everything you need to know about them.
THE OPPOSITION – FALMOUTH TOWN
STADIUM – Bickland Park
NICKNAME – The Ambers
FOUNDED – 1949
MANAGER – Andrew Westgarth
LEAGUE POSITION – 18th
LAST FIVE – W-L-W-L-L
LAST TIME OUT
It was a long Tuesday night trip down south for the Acorns back in September and it wasn’t the result we wanted as the Ambers ran out 3-2 winners, Bickland Park.
Sol Kent got the Acorns in front at the break but an inspired second half saw Falmouth take a 3-1 lead after 83 minutes.
Despite a late own goal, the Acorns couldn’t find an equaliser and returned to Gloucestershire empty handed.
WHAT’S HAPPENED SINCE?
The Ambers have struggled this campaign and are currently in a fight for survival with just over a month of the season to go.
Following back-to-back defeats to Portishead Town and just two wins in their last 10 games, Falmouth sit on the trap door to the drop zone in 18th, with just goal difference keeping them outside of it.
Falmouth have failed to score in their last two games and haven’t managed to keep many out at the other end, having shipped 15 goals in their last four games.
Trips away from Bickland Park haven’t been easy either, with Falmouth winning just two of their last 13 games away from home.
PLAYER TO WATCH – LUKE BARNER
The Ambers haven’t scored a goal since the 10th of March and Luke Barner was the last Falmouth player to get himself on the scoresheet.
A brace during the Ambers 2-1 victory against promotion chasing Shaftesbury AFC, picked his side up after the disappointment of a 6-5 defeat to Winchester City the weekend prior.
During that 11-goal thriller, Barnes grabbed himself another brace taking him up to four goals in his last four games for the Ambers.
