Match Preview- Malvern Town (A)

The Acorns bring in the new year with a trip to Malvern Town as we look to extend our unbeaten streak to seven games, on Saturday.

It’s the second meeting of the season for the sides who played out an entertaining 2-2 draw back in August at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium.

Ahead of our short trip to Worcestershire, here is everything you need to know about our opposition.

THE OPPOSITION- MALVERN TOWN

STADIUM- HDAnywhere Community Stadium

NICKNAME- The Hillsiders

FOUNDED- 1946

MANAGER- Lee Hooper

LEAGUE POSITION- 4th

LAST FIVE- W-W-W-W-D

WHAT’S HAPPENED SO FAR THIS SEASON?

After narrowly missing out on promotion last campaign, the Hillsiders have made another serge for that goal, currently sitting fourth in the Southern League Div One South.

Just five points separates them and the league leaders, Frome Town, a gap that has been dropped thanks to an impressive unbeaten run.

The Hillsiders are unbeaten in their last six games, matching that of the Acorns own achievements, and have lost just one of their last 11 games in the league.

Lee Hooper’s side could’ve made it six straight wins last Saturday against Sporting Club Inkberrow, but a 93rd minute goal saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw.

LAST TIME OUT

It was an eventful afternoon at the 4ED back in August when the Hillsiders visited the Acorns.

Levi Francis gave the Hillsiders an early lead on 10 minutes before Billy Osborn cancelled that one out to send the game 1-1 into half time.

Tomos Shyamapant looked to have snatched all three points on 89 minutes, finishing off a dangerous counter attack, but Joseph Tumelty rescued a point 96 minutes for the visitors.

PLATER TO WATCH- HARRY CLARK

Malvern have seen it rain with goals recently netting 16 goals in their last five matches, and one of their primary contributors has been Harry Clark.

Clark netted the only goal in his sides 1-1 draw with Inkberrow post-Christmas but has also found the net six times in his last seven games for the Hillsiders.
