Match Preview- Winchester City (H)

Following back-to-back-to-back wins, the Acorns face a stern test against top spot chasing Winchester City at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium on Saturday.

Winchester could close the gap to two points, on front runners Frome Town with a win, but the Acorns will be hoping a fourth win on the bounce could move them as high as 7th.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SO FAR THIS SEASON?

It’s been an electric season for the Citizens who have lost just one of their last 12 games in the league and have suffered just three defeats in the Div One South all campaign.

The Citizens one defeat in the that period came against fellow title challengers, Portishead Town in an entertaining 3-2 game.

On the road, Winchester have lost two of their last five away from the Community Stadium, but the Citizens have also only failed to score in two games away from home this campaign.

LAST TIME OUT

The Acorns made their Southern League debut with an opening day trip to Winchester back in August but came away on the wrong end of 2-1 defeat.

Akai Bonnick scored the Acorns maiden Step 4 goal with first half rounding of the goalkeeper, but two second half goals saw the Citizens snatch all three points.

PLAYER TO WATCH- THOMAS WRIGHT

Thomas Wright has taken the Div One South by storm netting eight goals across the season, with two of them coming in his last two games.

The 29-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Citizens after joining from Havant & Waterlooville in 2023, following spells with Salisbury and Sutton United.

Wright has 84 National League appearances to his name coming along with 21 goals during his Step 1 career.
