Recent Hartpury Junior One’s footballer, O’Rian Reid, secured a professional contract with League One side Barnsley.
Following a successful trial period during pre-season, Reid was rewarded with this fantastic opportunity.
Hartpury College Football Manager, Spencer Hamilton proudly spoke on Reid’s achievement and how his progression highlights the programme.
“The opportunity is thoroughly deserved. O’Rian has developed tremendously during his time at Hartpury, both as a player and as a young man, and it has been a pleasure to support him throughout that process.
“To see a player come into our programme, commit to two years of hard work and development, and ultimately earn a professional contract is exactly what the programme is all about.
“He has shown a great attitude, a willingness to learn and the desire to keep improving, and those qualities have played a big part in getting him to this point.
“We are extremely proud of the progress he has made and delighted that he now has the chance to continue that journey at Barnsley.
Everyone at Hartpury wishes O’Rian every success for the future. We’re really looking forward to seeing how far he can go,” Hamilton said.
Reid completed his Level 3 Foundation Diploma Sport (Football) earlier this year and had been a regular starter and goal scorer for our Junior One’s side.
Away from Hartpury, Reid grew through the non-league system starting at step seven with local side, Gala Wilton before completing the 2025/26 season with Hellenic League Premier outfit, Lydney Town.
During his time with the Junior One’s, Reid earned his way into Hartpury FC making his step four debut during a 3-0 win away to Mousehole AFC, during the 2025/26 season.
Whilst also featuring for the FC’s under 18’s side, Reid scored in the FA Youth Cup during a 3-1 defeat to a young, strong Cheltenham Town side.
Reid also got the opportunity to represent England Schools and England Colleges throughout his time with Hartpury.
