Hartpury FC earned a hard fought point against high flying Frome Town in a goalless draw at Badgers Hill on Saturday.
A superb defensive display maintained the Acorns unbeaten start to November in this Southern League Div One South clash.
The Acorns had the best early half chances of the game when Louis Manning saw a corner tipped over and Billy Osborn seeing a clearance against him roll wide, inside the opening 20 minutes.
The Robins showed glimpses in the first half having their first effort of the game on 25 minutes when Sam Heal struck straight at Seth Locke from distance.
The Acorns were kept level by a fantastic stretching save by Locke, denying Albie Hopkins’ towering header 42 minutes, minutes after George Sims had denied Hopkins with an incredible block.
HALF TIME- FROME TOWN 0-0 HARTPURY FC
Hartpury started the second half brightly with Renato Prifti’s acrobatic effort needing tipping over the bar by Kyle Phillips on 50 minutes.
Nathan Jenkins tested Phillips on the hour mark with a fierce effort from distance before Locke produced another important stop down the other end, denying a dipping George Dowling effort, moments later.
The Robins applied pressure midway through the half but another outstanding, unsighted, save from Locke denied Sam Meakes a way through, moments after Sol Kent made another crucial block.
The Acorns defence was in unbeatable form again on 78 minutes when Kent produced a brilliant goal line clearance to deny a Hopkins’ lobbed effort.
Prifti tried his luck on 79 minutes but saw his curling effort deflected into the arms of Phillips, seeing the game end goalless.
This saw the Acorns go two games unbeaten and the side will look to carry this form on when we host Tavistock AFC at the 4ED next Saturday.
