Hartpury FC U18s produced a professional performance against Cirencester Town u18s to advance to the first qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup, on Tuesday night.
The young Acorns recorded a 7-1 victory at the Talent Hire Stadium during this preliminary round match-up.
The young Acorns started strong and saw an effort beaten behind inside the opening minute, after Beau Bird met an Archie Hearnden through ball.
That strong start was rewarded on seven minutes when Felix Schmidt flicked a header over the Centurions goalkeeper, following a delightful Layten Harris long ball.
Four minutes later, Josh Samuel doubled the young Acorns lead when he found the net from 30-yards punishing a misplaced pass by the goalkeeper.
Cirencester went close to getting back into the game on 14 minutes, but Alexander Miles saw a flicked effort well saved by Josh Sawyers, in the Acorns goal.
William O’Brien flashed a dangerous cross into the area, on 34 minutes, but no one was there to meet it.
Just three minutes later, Miguel Pierre made it 3-0 when he won a foot race to a through ball against the goalkeeper, and from 18-yards tucked the ball away sending the Acorns into the break with a comfortable lead.
HALF TIME – CIRENCESTER TOWN 0-3 HARTPURY FC
Archie Hearnden had the opening chance of the half, on 46 minutes, when he drove down on goal before striking a rising shot from 18-yards over the bar.
Cirencester did get one goal back on 53 minutes, when Bobby Goddard capitalised on a quick free kick to beat Sawyers who had denied the midfielder moments prior.
Pierre could’ve had a second but could only head a well-placed O’Brien cross over the Centurions bar, on 54 minutes.
Sawyers kept the Acorns well ahead when he produced a strong stop at his near post on 59 minutes, denying a free Miles.
Oliver Hines stung the palms of the keeper from distance on 72 minutes, before the Acorns started to turn up the heat for the evening.
Hearnden got himself on the scoresheet twice in a minute when he fired past the keeper at his near post on 73 minutes, before following up a parried effort to sweep home on 74 minutes.
Four minutes later, Stanley Horrocks produced a moment of brilliance when he lofted an effort into the far corner from 18-yards on the angle, adding a sixth goal to the Acorns tally.
The tie was well and truly put to bed on 85 minutes when Hines picked out the bottom left corner from 20-yards, sending the young Acorns in to the next round of the competition.
