The Acorns bring their pre-season preparations to a conclusion on Saturday, as we travel to face Southern League Div One Central side, Milton Keynes Irish.
The Acorns will be looking to build on last Friday’s 1-0 victory over Corsham Town, as the new season edges ever closer.
Ahead of our trip to Buckinghamshire, here is the lowdown on Saturday’s opposition.

THE YOUNG GUNS
Just like the Acorns, the Irish were founded in 2020 following a merger between three clubs that kept the football alive in the community.
Milton Keynes Robins, Unite MK and Milton Keynes Irish Veterans all combined together to form Milton Keynes Irish, who entered at Step 6 for the 2020-21 season.
Despite their debut season being ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Irish were promoted to Step 5 on their points per game total.
The Irish wouldn’t have to wait long to see another promotion when they earned promotion to Step 4 in 2025.
The Irish’s rise almost matches the Acorns, as they too played their debut campaign at Step 4 last term and managed a respectable 13th placed finish.
DEBUT SEASON CUP RUN
In the Irish’s debut campaign in 2020, the side managed to reach the FA Vase third round.
They beat sides such as, Thames Rangers, Broadfields United, Stansted and Wroxham along the way.
But the exciting run was bought to an end when it was Fakenham Town who got the Irish luck, advancing on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
