University Sports Business Management Students Visit Professional Clubs

As Hartpury enjoys excellent working relationships and partnerships across the sports industry, students regularly engage in live sports projects and experiences throughout their programme of study.

Recently foundation and honours degree students travelled to events at Bristol City FC and Gloucester Rugby.
Their feedback on the events included:

“The trip allowed us to see how business principles discussed in lectures are applied within a football club environment” - Lona Price-Jones, BA Hons Sport Business Management

“It was great to get advice and tips on employability options in the sports industry and create a network opportunity with an established sports professional” - Harry Clark, FdA Sport Business Management

“I really enjoyed seeing how Bristol City FC use CRM and focus on the concept of secondary spend” - Eddie Stevens, FdA Sport Business Management

“Taking part in the business breakfast that was held at Gloucester RFC, was a unique experience. Although I have participated in similar events none of them compare to this one. The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere, although the general feeling was friendly and relaxed it was immediately clear to me how serious and important this meeting was. Each individual was representing a high profile firm and therefore focussed on business objectives.

It was a professional meeting composed by strategic players with clear priorities of developing business. I understood the value of time in trying to maximize conversations with those present. Opportunities like this give a valuable insight of what business involves.”
Seb Rodwell, BA (Sports Business Management)
