Helping the best of the best to feel fighting fit again!

Not everyone can reach the dizzy heights of elite sport but what about the people pulling the strings behind the scenes, helping the best of the best to be at the top of their game?

If you're thinking about forging ahead with a great career in the sports industry, our new Sports Therapy degree course could be perfect for you. It will give you the practical experience you'll need to treat, manage and rehabilitate sporting injuries, along with the theory to back it up, and here at Hartpury, you'll be working with the best.

Our students benefit from developing their skills in a specialist sports environment where they have the unique opportunity to work with elite squads and individual athletes across our seven sports programmes - men's and women's rugby, football, rowing, netball, golf and modern pentathlon.

You'll be perfectly placed to provide them with pitchside support, injury treatment and rehabilitation and you'll have access to our cross-training gym, spa baths, artificial all-weather pitches and physiotherapy and rehabilitation suites.

Hartpury's outstanding facilities also attract international teams across a range of disciplines – having provided a base for the Canadian modern pentathlon team for their London 2012 Olympic preparations as well as several other Paralympic teams ahead of their games. New Zealand’s Eventing team, Ireland Rugby, Irish Wolfhounds and England Saxons are just some of the other international teams who have taken advantage of the first-class facilities on offer at the college.

Dr Christopher Potter, Head of Sport for university courses, said: "Having access to top sportsmen, women and teams on their doorstep, not to mention coaches and teaching staff of the highest calibre - many of whom have been involved in top-level sport themselves - provides Hartpury Sport students with a unique degree experience.

"This new course will provide students with lots of hands-on experience working with athletes across a range of competitive sports, from dealing with trauma injuries pitchside to rehabilitating athletes to help them return to top form.

"Our world-class reputation means our contacts in the sports industry are second to none too, helping our students to secure some really exciting work placements and opening doors when they graduate too. Many of our former students are now working with professional sports clubs or have gone on to set up their own businesses."

Hartpury has also launched a new degree course in Physical Education and School Sport for September 2014, which will give students the best chance of successfully applying for a primary or secondary PGCE to become a Physical Education teacher. The focus will be on gaining practical experience in schools with PE department heads having been heavily involved in designing the course.

To find out more our new sports courses and how to apply come to our next Higher Education Open Day on March 22nd, 2014. You can register for the open day right here.
