Dutch students get hands-on experience at Hartpury

Hartpury welcomed 26 students from the Netherlands to experience the animal menagerie that the college has to offer.

The Dutch students, who are currently undertaking a degree in animal husbandry at the HAS University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch, spent a packed day at Hartpury as part of their week-long visit to the UK.
The students were able to get hands on at Hartpury’s Home Farm, where their practical skills were put to the test. This involved numerous activities while they were taken around the vast facilities that the farm has to offer, which included the general health and management of the college’s dairy cows.

While visiting the campus the students also had a chance to visit the Equine Therapy Centre, where they got to witness many horses being rehabilitated through the services that the centre has.
Grace O’Gorman, lecturer in Animal Health, said: “It was a very enjoyable day, and it was great to see the enthusiasm showed by our Dutch visitors throughout their day on site. We hope they found the whole day valuable, and wish them luck in their studies.”
