Helping off-site students make the most of the Hartpury experience

Hartpury students living off campus are being helped to feel part of the university student experience thanks to the efforts of Hartpury staff.

Dean Seeliger, who is off-site residence co-ordinator as well as subject leader for university sport, and off-site residence assistant, Hugo Crous, who looks after the student properties on a daily basis, have organised a series of social events for students living away from the main campus.
The posts were introduced in September 2013 with the aim of establishing and developing an off-site student community.

Most recently, they organised a barbecue for students on Robinswood Hill, but there have also been pub meals, bowling and indoor climbing trips among others.

Dean said: “The idea is to make it possible for students living in different properties off-site to meet one another and feel part of the Hartpury student experience and the wider Hartpury family.
“It can sometimes be difficult to feel part of the social scene when you’re not living on campus, so we do everything possible to ensure that all students feel included and build social networks, which is such an important part of the university experience.”
