Business leaders share tricks of the trade to help Hartpury students open doors to their dream jobs at careers event

Hundreds of hopeful Hartpury students will be knocking on the doors of potential top employers after getting the inside track from big names in the animal, equine, land and sport industries at a major careers event held at the college.

Successful Hartpury alumni joined a number of distinguished guests for the event, with speakers on hand to provide current second and third year students with advice on the ins and outs of how to be successful in their chosen industry. They were also given tips on CV writing, how to be a successful interviewee and how to get your foot in the door.

The event, led by Hartpury’s new Innovation, Careers and Enterprise Centre, was running for the second year and included nine workshops and four panel talks for second and third year students who will soon be looking to take the next step towards their dream careers.

The students who attended got the chance to find out more about selling their skills and potential to employers as well as being told how to start their own businesses, moving into the armed forces and how to get into veterinary school.

Hartpury graduates from the worlds of events management, media and other areas were also on hand to give advice to current students and share their stories.

Gill Reindl, Innovation Careers and Enterprise Principal Lecturer at Hartpury, who organised the event, said: “The event was even bigger and better this year and we saw a massive upturn in attendance.

“We had a wide variety of speakers, activities and information aimed at all of our different specialist areas. I’m sure that they all took away a great deal of knowledge which will help to prepare them for the world of work once they graduate and give them the best possible chance of securing their dream careers in animal, land, equine and sport.”
