Labrinth makes ground shake as students have swimming time in watery wonderland at Hartpury Summer Ball

Around 1700 students partied the night away at Hartpury’s ‘Under the Sea’ themed Summer Ball, dancing to Labrinth and enjoying the thrills and spills of fairground rides.

Local band Tommy and the Fuse kick-started the party with a great set including lots of chart-topping hits while the resident DJ sets kept the dancefloor packed with revellers. Main act Labrinth took to the stage at 1am and the mix of Hartpury College and University Centre students danced away to hits such as ‘Earthquake’, ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘Let the Sun Shine’.

The students enjoyed a variety of hair-raising fairground rides and enjoyed bumping into their friends and staff, including Principal Russell Marchant, on the ever-popular dodgems! The ‘Under the Sea’ theme was completed with nautical decorations around the marquee and even a hook-a-duck with Finding Nemo prizes to be won.

Hartpury College Principal, Russell Marchant, said: “As always, it was a fabulous night. The marquee was packed out, especially for Labrinth, and the students I spoke to all had an incredible time.

“The rides were busy throughout the night and it was great to see so many students at the famous ‘Survivors Breakfast’ at 5am, a lot of them still carrying their cuddly fish! I hope that the students, particularly those who are leaving us, will leave with great memories that will last forever.”
