Hartpury staff to learn formula behind powerful presentations as leading expert visits to present secrets to success

A leading expert who helped Microsoft improve its presentation technique is heading to Hartpury at the end of July.

Simon Morton, an influential business leader and founder of ‘Eyeful Presentations’ - one of the top three presentation consultancy companies in the world – will kick off Hartpury’s teaching and learning conference on Thursday, July 27th, with a keynote session based on a section from his successful first book. He will share his key insights with staff, who will use his top tips to further enhance the quality of teaching that the university centre has to offer.

After launching his company more than a decade ago with a goal of creating better, more effective business presentations that would engage audiences and get presenters results and success, Simon’s book, ‘The Presentation Lab’, is making waves around the world.

Since being published in 2013, the book has been released in six languages and Simon has also presented to hundreds of people at events, corporate webinars and leadership podcasts, while also boosting the presentation profile of large clients such as Microsoft.

And Hartpury staff will now get the chance to learn at first hand the formula behind powerful presentations as they look to sharpen their own skills ready for the next academic year in September.

Simon said: “I’m really excited about presenting at Hartpury, which itself has a worldwide reputation for innovation and success. I’ve worked with many leading businesses and had some excellent feedback about the positive impact of ‘The Presentation Lab’ approach but this will be the first time I’ve collaborated with an academic institution.

“I know the staff at Hartpury are at the cutting edge of the latest research and developments in their expert fields, so it will be fantastic to help give them a more effective platform to share their knowledge and experience in a way that will really inspire their students, as well as the industry partners they work with. It’s a fantastic opportunity to present at a really dynamic college and university centre who are so engaged in continually improving the student experience.”

Hartpury’s Head of Teaching and Learning at Higher Education, Kate Mori, added: “Simon is an internationally recognised expert on presentation skills and a high-calibre speaker so we are extremely lucky to have secured him for our event. I’m sure that all of our staff will take a lot from his session and we look forward to welcoming him to Hartpury.”
