There was a feast of festive cheer at Hartpury today (December 6th) as local schoolchildren sung their hearts out to Hartpury staff and students at a special Christmas Carol Service.
The Hartpury Church of England Primary School choir entertained everyone assembled in Hartpury House with some beautiful and enthusiastic singing, one complete with actions and dance.
While the children were in strong voice with their three songs, the congregation also got into the Christmas spirit, joining in with the children for four traditional Christmas carols. They were accompanied by Hartpury staff member, Annie Kirk, on the piano.
While Hartpury College chaplain, Phil Metcalf, led the welcome and the closing prayer, there were also readings by Hartpury Students' Union President, Caoimhe Sweeney, Equine student, Kirsten Wing, president of Hartpury’s Christian Union, Jordan Timpson, and Hartpury's Director of HR and Residential Services, Lesley Worsfold. Student chaplain, Charlie Crump, also shared his ‘Thought for Christmas’.
Phil said: "The choir from Hartpury Primary were just fabulous and everyone who joined us for the service thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. They sang beautifully and it was a fantastic way to celebrate Advent as the students prepare to head into their Christmas break."
After a collection for the Teens in Crisis charity, the congregation and the choir and staff from Hartpury Primary enjoyed refreshments, including the obligatory mince pies!
