College student Emma Johnson has been picked to captain the Under-19 Netball Performance League Severn Stars team.
Johnson, who is currently in her second year of her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Coaching, will be taking her experience from captaining the Hartpury Netball first team and last season’s AoC National Squad as she heads up the Severn Stars team.
Having recently lead Hartpury to third place in the Regional Schools Tournament, from her centre or wing attack position Johnson will be commanding the Hartpury squad to finish off the league and through the AoC National Championships in April.
Emma said: ‘I am honoured to be chosen as the first ever Under-19 captain of the new Severn Stars franchise. I am extremely excited for what’s ahead and cannot wait to lead this talented team into a season of solid fixtures.
“Being given the opportunity to captain the first team at Hartpury has helped me to develop in to a confident leader and I am hoping to help bring a strong team moral to our squad.”
