Hartpury students set off to Seefeld for snow polo

A group of Hartpury students recently set off to Austria to experience the first leg of the PIPA Snow Polo World Cup.

The equine students, from a combination of degree courses, had the opportunity to watch the first four matches of the tournament between Austria, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland.

They are all studying the Management of the Performance Horse module and the trip gave them the opportunity to chat to the players and discuss the management of snow polo ponies, a sport where performance horses have unique requirements.

In their free time the students also got to have a go at a range of winter activities, including tobogganing and ice-skating! Second year FdSc Equine Performance student Michelle Newnham said: “we all had a fab time and just getting the opportunity to experience it was great.”
