Hartpury’s double-winning British Universities and Colleges Sport skipper, Sebastian Negri, will represent Italy again after his country selected him for the upcoming summer internationals.
Negri, who made his full Italy debut in last year’s tour to North America, eventually winning two caps, has been named in the Italy ‘A’ squad that will contest an Emerging Nations Tournament in Uruguay.
As well as the national team of the host country, Italy A will also face Namibia and what is likely to be a very powerful Argentina A. The matches will all take place between 10-18 June in the Uruguayan capital city, Montevideo.
Negri, who is about to graduate from Hartpury having completed a BA Sports Business Management, is the only full-time student in the squad and, indeed, the only member not currently contracted as a professional to an Italian club side – a great recognition of his playing ability.
That, of course, will all change very soon as Seb will shortly start his first professional contract with the leading Italian club, Benetton Treviso, as previously announced.
