Hartpury students will be getting hands-on this weekend running a dog agility event that they have helped to organise.
Competitors will come from all over as the college hosts the UK Agility sanctioned event for the first time.
Animal students from the college will get hands-on experience of running a large-scale canine event as they take charge at the weekend. They have also been involved in the planning and organisation of the competition.
The plan is for student involvement to increase next year as Hartpury look for the students to be more heavily involved in running and planning all aspects of the event.
Hartpury’s Animal Collection Manage, Aleksandra Lipinska, who has been involved with arranging the event alongside the students, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting such a big event and it’s great to give our students experience of running such a big event.”
There will be classes for beginner, novice, senior and champion dogs. They will take part in agility, jumping, steeplechase and casual events. Entries for the event are still open and will close on the morning of Sunday 1 September. Competitors can enter right up until the beginning of each class.
