Hartpury’s BUCS Championship-winning skipper Tom Pashley has been given the honour of leading the England Students rugby union squad in their upcoming double-header against France.
Pashley is joined in the international line-up by five of his team-mates from Hartpury’s dramatic victory against Cardiff Met University at Twickenham, including winning try-scorer Luke Stratford.
James Forrester, Sam Leeming, Max Clementson and Alex Gibson complete the Hartpury sextet looking to follow up Wednesday’s BUCS Championship final success with more glory across the Channel.
England Students’ first match against their French counterparts takes place in Chambery this Sunday, followed by a second fixture on 20 April.
Head coach Aaron James said: “BUCS Super Rugby has resulted in a higher level of play, which will boost England Students’ chances against a French side boasting players of professional standards.
“The competition has taken another step up this year, and the guys will benefit from that. The standard has to be very high to play France - we need to be at a National One standard or above."
