The inaugural University Sports Awards evening at Hartpury proved a big success last night as the winners of major prizes were announced.
The Sportsman of the Year award was awarded to Scott Jones to celebrate outstanding achievement and performance success within rowing.
The Sportswoman of the Year Award was won by Bryony Lawrence, also to celebrate outstanding achievement and performance success within rowing.
Kate Robinson was named Sports Personality of the Year for being a superb ambassador for sporting ethos.
The Staff Coach of the Year Award went to Lauren Graham, following an outstanding contribution to coaching and student sport experience within the netball programme.
Jack Combes was announced as Student Coach of the Year following an outstanding contribution to coaching and student sport experience within the men’s rugby union programme.
The Sport Volunteer of the Year Award was won by Lauren Couchman in recognition of efforts to capture and enhance student sport experience through the Media Society.
The Unsung Hero Award was presented to Kelly Lessel, for recognition of tireless effort behind the scenes of the equine programme.
Resilience Awards were presented to Rebecca Bevan and Sophie Hulme for showing spirit and fortitude when faced with adversity.
The Captain of the Year was named as Henry Darch for outstanding leadership of the Men’s Rugby Union 3rd XV.
The Team of the Year Award was won by the netball first team for a fantastic season that has seen incredible development and success in league promotion.
