Hartpury College – the current holder of two Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ awards – is proud to be involved in 2019 Love Our Colleges Week.

The multi award-winning specialist institution is joining colleges across the UK in showcasing the wide range of courses and world-class facilities, including a brand-new £8.8 million Sports Academy, on its state-of-the-art 360-hectare campus.

Hartpury received the highest possible grade from Ofsted for the overall effectiveness of its leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and the 16-19 study programmes, including A-levels.

It also achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted for the overall experiences and progress of young people and how well they’re helped and protected.

Hartpury College, which operates alongside Hartpury University, offers A-levels and a wide range of diplomas in its specialist areas of Agriculture, Animal, Equine and Sport, along with Uniformed Public Services.

Alongside their main award, which covers the practical and knowledge aspects of the area in which students aim to gain employment, everyone studying at Hartpury College completes the unique Hartpury Certificate.

The Certificate provides students with evidence of the additional skills and knowledge they have gained while undertaking work experience and other aspects of their course such as development of further literacy and numeracy skills, which are highly valued by employers.

Claire Whitworth, Vice-Principal of Hartpury College, said: “We’re delighted to be joining other education institutions across the UK for Colleges Week.

“The staff at Hartpury take great pride in providing our students with a special and unique platform from which to forge a successful pathway in life, progressing either directly into related employment or onto university study here or elsewhere.

“We hope that by providing our students with the ‘Hartpury experience’, we have helped them develop industry-specific skills and knowledge, wider life skills, lifelong networks and contacts, and as such an excellent foundation for their future careers.

“Not only do our students complete their main award, but they also work towards our unique Hartpury Certificate that takes into account a period of external work experience graded by an employer, development of literacy and numeracy skills and achievement of ‘day one’ employability skills.

“This combination of their main award and the Hartpury Certificate really helps to give our students a competitive edge when they embark on their dream careers in their chosen industry.”

Hartpury has the highest student satisfaction rating of all land-based further education colleges in England (Department for Education (DfE) 2017-2018).

Ninety-eight per cent of students would recommend Hartpury as a place to study A-levels, diplomas and Access to Higher Education qualifications (Hartpury 2018).

It is the highest-achieving land-based college in England for all further education qualifications, including GCSE English and Maths post-school resits (DfE 2017-2018).

Love Our Colleges Week (13-17 May) is part of the Love Our Colleges campaign, a partnership between college staff, students and supporters and education unions, to promote colleges on the national stage.
