Hartpury College has launched a unique skills programme to increase the opportunities for its students to gain a head start in their dream careers.

The Hartpury Certificate Plus allows students at the Ofsted Outstanding institution to choose from a broad range of development opportunities that will best suit their career aspirations and help them stand out from the crowd.

The extensive list of activities being offered through Hartpury Certificate Plus include CV workshops, enrolment on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme, membership of Hartpury’s Business Forum, volunteer work in schools, and how to maintain a Personal Development Plan.

Hartpury Certificate Plus further enhances the opportunities provided by the well-established Hartpury Certificate, to prepare A-level and Diploma students for work or further training, alongside their main qualification.

Claire Whitworth, Vice-Principal of Hartpury College, said: “We pride ourselves on developing our students as well-rounded, independent individuals able to meet life’s challenges head on.

“Our unique Hartpury Certificate enables students to work towards the development of wider employability and life skills complementary to their main qualification.

“They have the opportunity to develop and gain real-life experience, as well as the skills and knowledge to be ahead of the game when they start out in their dream careers in their chosen industry.

“The Hartpury Certificate Plus will provide our students with even more opportunities to gain the vital skills and experience that employers are looking for, helping to set them on the road to a successful future.”

Hartpury College students had an overall pass rate of 99.2 per cent when the latest A-level results were released last week – the best ever for Hartpury and higher than the national average.

Thirteen out of the 14 A-levels subjects offered by Hartpury College achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

There was further positive news for Hartpury College as 74.2 per cent of its students achieved grades of A* to C – an increase of 23 per cent from 2018.

Hartpury College was rated Ofsted Outstanding in a further education and skills report in June 2018 and for its residential provision for students in March 2019.

Offering a range of A-levels and diplomas, it is one of the UK’s leading land-based, sports, equine and animal colleges.

It has the highest student satisfaction of all land-based further education colleges in the UK (Department of Education survey 2018/19).
